Show Statement From the Artist: 

" Growing up in Mexico City, I developed a deep appreciation for the visual language found in everyday life—native plants emerging from urban landscapes, vibrant color palettes, architecture, and traditions that quietly shape our sense of identity and belonging. These memories continue to influence my artistic practice, serving as a foundation for exploring the relationship between nature, symbolism, and personal experience.

The works presented in this exhibition draw inspiration from botanical forms, landscapes,
and organic elements that have accompanied me throughout my life. Agaves, flowers, cacti, hearts, and celestial forms become visual metaphors for resilience, transformation, and connection. Rather than depicting these subjects literally, I simplify and reinterpret them through painting and photography, creating space for reflection and personal interpretation.

As a Mexican artist now living and working in Austin, my practice reflects an ongoing
dialogue between memory and place. My background in graphic design informs my use of
composition, color, and visual storytelling, while my meditation practice encourages
presence, observation, and an intuitive approach to creating. Together, these influences
allow me to balance structure with spontaneity, creating work that invites contemplation,
emotional connection, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty found in nature and
everyday life.

For this Hispanic Heritage Month exhibition, I invite viewers to consider heritage as
something living and evolving—not something we leave behind, but something we carry with us. As we pursue new dreams and build lives in new places, we carry the legacy of those who came before us, the landscapes that shaped us, and the traditions that continue to guide us. Through these works, I honor the land that nurtured me while celebrating the enduring connection between memory, identity, and belonging, recognizing that our roots continue to accompany us wherever life takes us."
