THE CATHEDRAL TEAM - BUILT BY WOMEN, MADE FOR ALL
Meet our dream team! We are artists, we are entrepreneurs, we are marketing experts with event curation and production experience. Above all, we are passionate about helping other creatives succeed pursuing their passion. We are believers of collaboration and have created many opportunities for our network of artists through our efforts with atxGALS . In two short years, we have donated over $25,000 to local organizations to include The Girls Empowerment Network, SAFE Alliance, and Austin Pets Alive!. We could not get enough, so much so that The Cathedral was born.
Through this gorgeous space, we are able to provide an inspiring space for Austin's thriving creative and startup community, expand opportunities for our artists and continue to give back to our community by incorporating art and business workshops, exhibits, partner events, meditation, yoga, and much more.
Come work with us and LET'S MAKE MAGIC.
Founder & CEO
Monica is a natural-born artist who has been creating art since she can remember. She grew up in Monterrey, MX, where she absorbed the colorful culture that is reflected in her work today. Monica moved to the US with her sisters when she was just 15 years old. Wanting to keep her passion for art alive, she rented her first art studio in Austin, allowing her to tap into the local art scene and meet many of the artists she works with today, including friend and business partner, Whitney Avra. Monica's focus in marketing and events throughout her career made her fall into the creation of atxGALS with Whitney. Monica has been actively working on the brand's growth and success since their official launch, and is the vision and direction behind atxGALS and The Cathedral.
Co-Founder & COO
Whitney is a contemporary mixed-media artist working with vintage portraiture photography to explore ideas about female identity. She considers herself a visual storyteller sharing a point-of-view. Her work has been exhibited at Elisabet Ney Museum and featured in The Chronicle and CultureMap. In 2017, Whitney co-founded atxGALS with Monica after exhibiting together at several group shows earlier that year. Whitney leads communication with artists and consults with them to ensure their success at events and beyond. Whitney helps curate artists workshops at The Cathedral, ensures all systems are working well for members and is The Cathedral's point person for our artists.
Marketing & Events Manager
Kelley is the newest addition to the atxGALS and The Cathedral's team. Kelley moved from California to Austin, where she was introduced to the group by attending one of their events and fell in-love with the cause. Her passion for atxGALS' mission combined with her experience on social media and email marketing makes Kelley an incredible addition to the team. Kelley leads The Cathedral's social media handles, PR, assists our events planning team, and is also our member's go-to gal: she makes sure everyone is enjoying the space and helps all new members get settled into our beautiful space.
