" As a child, I would belt out Selena’s songs and dance around the house, pretending I was her. Back then, I didn't realize how much she was actually shaping my creative world. She was one of the first women in mainstream media who looked like me and spoke both Spanish and English.

Through her voice and her bravery, Selena showed me that being a successful artist was a real possibility for someone with my heritage. This beaded portrait, which took over 200 hours to complete is a celebration of her incredible legacy. It is a heartfelt reminder that our stories—and our art—deserve to be seen. To Selena, and to the 'little me' who finally felt seen, heard and represented."
