"In this body of work, I return to the in-between world. Where identity questions belonging and the images express the quiet tension of my existence. These paintings are rougher, more exposed, shaped by the grit of growing up between two vastly different inheritances. The scenes echo times and spaces in Texas while the woman expresses another world. She could exist in Pakistan just as easily, her presence a subtle disruption, a continuity across geographies. She appears almost as a shadow between cultures, held by both, fully claimed by neither."
