From the Artist:
Koi have been used as living pieces of art in gardens for centuries and have long been symbols for resilience, prosperity, perseverance, strength and harmony. Their graceful movements in the water symbolize the flow of positive chi, contributing to the harmonious balance of the environment and ambiance of zen.
Each koi pond begins with layers of modeling paste sculpted to form ripples in water. These waves, reminiscent of a serene pond's surface, provide a captivating texture that draws the viewer into the artwork's depths. Below these textured layers, delicate acrylic washes are applied, infusing the piece with the soft and ethereal qualities of watercolors. Then, once all the layers are dried, the koi fish are painted and their shining scales are further gilded with gold.
Tranquil and calm, this abstract Koi Pond is part of a diptych meant to give any room a Zen-like quality.
